Translation: Legal basis and the purpose of the monitoring: Prevent crime

The personal data processing that the camera surveillance gives rise to will be used within several activities within the Police Authority. Applicable legal grounds for the Police Authority’s personal data processing are therefore to prevent, prevent or detect criminal activity (chap. 2 § 1 first paragraph 1 PBDL) and to investigate or prosecute crimes (chap. 2 § 1 first paragraph 2 PBDL).

There is a special risk of serious crime and the purpose of the surveillance is to prevent, prevent and detect such criminal activity or to investigate or prosecute such crimes.

There has been an unauthorized public gathering outside the University of Gothenburg since May. Today there are about 20 tents set up at the site with signs and flags and there are people at the site around the clock.

They have also set up plastic bands and ropes around the area where they are located, which affects the freedom of movement of the residents of the area and others who stay there as they feel they are not allowed to go there. The residents also have a disturbed night’s sleep from screams and drums

It has become more infected over time and a number of illegal threats and assaults have all occurred, one of which was serious assault. The most common thing is that people passing by the place express something negative and sometimes they even tear down placards/flags and violence ensues. Those who live in the area and others who stay there are becoming more and more disturbed and have expressed their desire to take matters into their own hands as they do not think the police are doing anything. There is a risk of escalation and increased violence.

Considering the high risk of serious crime, the Police Authority believes that there is a need for camera surveillance. It is also of great importance that the camera surveillance begins as soon as possible.

Masking tents that are set up on the site will be masked as individual dwellings are to be considered.
